The GMD Commentary: Saturday, October 21, 2017

There was no GMD Commentary last Saturday.

Two weeks ago I featured four stocks in the GMD Commentary, Exelixis (EXEL), Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ALNY), Visa Inc. (V) and DXC Technology Company (DXC). Over these two weeks EXEL gained 5.68%, ALNY lost 4.04%, V rose .77%, and DXC rose 5.09%.

EXEL had a very interesting two weeks. For most of this time EXEL languished between $24 and $26. EXEL’s research focuses primarily on cancer treatments. On October 16 the company received news that the FDA had approved its application for priority review of a new treatment for renal cell cancer. The stock immediately shot up more than 30%. Later in the day the shares lost much of that gain, but still finished the day up more than 16%.

For this coming week I am going to feature only two stocks. First, I would suggest that you research a semiconductor company, #ON Semiconductor Corporation (ON). ON is an interesting company. They are active in many areas, but they are known primarily for several impressive innovations in hearing aids.

A second company that I am going to feature this week is Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE). Adobe attracted a lot of attention this week after an analysts’ meeting during which they explained several new initiatives into artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

There are articles on the website and on my Twitter and Facebook pages discussing both of these companies.
