Alibaba (BABA) is using artificial intelligence (AI) to tell customers what they want to buy.
Customers usually go on shopping apps to search for what they want to buy. However, Alibaba (BABA) also wants to tell them what they want to buy with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).
The strategy seems to been working. #Alibaba saw a surge in mobile engagement during the first quarter of 2017. The company says monthly active users on its shopping app reached 529 million in June. This was an increase of 22 million in three months.
“We use AI technology to improve the content that people see. This creates a more personalized shopping experience. It also increases the clicks,” Alibaba’s Vice Chairman Joseph Tsai said on Thursday’s earnings call.
